Frequently Asked Questions
About Our Chocolate
Why do chocolates made with Upcycled 100% Whole Cacao-fruit not all taste the same?
Just as with all chocolates conventionally made with only the beans of the cacao-fruit, Upcycled cacao-fruit chocolates also have different tastes and textures. The QUANTITY and ORIGIN of the Upcycled cacao-fruit used, combined with the techniques and recipes created, all result in distinctly different finished chocolate characteristics.
Our Coco Polo bliss™ Non-GMO Upcycled cacao-fruit is sourced from Ecuador, the basis of our new premium chocolate for an elevated indulgence. Made in the tradition of European chocolate excellence, without sugar's distraction, Coco Polo bliss™ offers an authentic full chocolate taste.
While some brands use Stevia as its sweetener, Coco Polo bliss™ has done its own R&D with the sweetener for over 20 years to make sure we had eliminated the undesirable and identifiable Stevia taste while keeping the enjoyable taste. We have NO STEVIA or UNFAMILIAR TASTES, which would distract from the wholesome richness of the whole cacao-fruit, the real star of our chocolate.
What is different about Coco Polo bliss™ chocolates from other No Added Sugar chocolates?
Unlike other chocolates, when we make our chocolate with 100% upcycled cacao-fruit instead of the beans alone, which is 30% of the whole cacao-fruit, farmers receive more revenue by selling the 70% of the cacao-fruit which is normally discarded. This 70% also has real nutritional value, just like the beans themselves.
Why were some inclusions of the bars selected instead of others?
Inclusions selected need to provide significant nutritional benefits. Our criteria for choosing what to add to our chocolate was to boost health properties to our already antioxidant rich upcycled whole cacao-fruit chocolate. All inclusions were qualified first as having a Low-GI (Glycemic Index) and are Organic/Non-GMO/Natural with no empty calories nor fibers to provide the most enrichment for the calorie intake.
How long will Coco Polo chocolate keep fresh?
Coco Polo’s chocolates can last up to 12 months from time of manufacture. The “Best By Date” shown on the back of our bars reflects these time limits. Our bars, as with all chocolates, store best at 65-70 degrees, away from direct sunlight, in low humidity and sealed from surrounding smells that can affect their taste and texture.
But we recommend eating our chocolates as soon as you receive them!
How are Coco Polo’s ingredients sourced?
The whole cacao-fruit is traceable to the Cocoa Cooperative/Village. We source sustainably (see our Sustainability Page), mostly Organic and reliable NON-GMO certified partners, even to the selection of our Singing Dog Vanilla®*, who we consider the most fairly traded vanilla available, to provide you with chocolate you will feel good about.

Can I order an assorted pack of all 3 Coco Polo bliss™ chocolates?
Yes, call us at (800)-433-2462 EST and ask about our Starter Sampler Pack.
Why is natural sugar free better for health than natural processed sugar-sweetened foods?
Sugar comes in many forms, which when accumulated on a daily basis, makes it difficult for the body to process efficiently and therefore contributing to possible health problems.
By choosing foods without added sugars that still satisfy the needs of the body and mind, the positive benefits and satisfaction are not diluted by the negative effects of sugar.
What is Stevia?
Stevia is derived from a plant found in South America. It is 300x sweeter than sugar but contains zero calories. For more info, check out our Stevia page under Sustainability.

Where is my order? How can I track my package?
When you place your order on the website or by phone, if you provide an email address, you will receive an email on the evening that your package(s) ships out from our warehouse. This email will contain the tracking number for the package(s), which you can then use to track your package.
How long does it take to ship my order?
- We aim to ship within 3 working days from receipt of your order.
- Our shippers do not work on the weekends or holidays, so your package may be delayed during these times.
- The shippers we use, both USPS and UPS, should get your package to you within 3-4 working days. If you do not receive your order within this timeframe from the date of your confirmed shipped date, please call us on our (800)-433-2462 EST, so we can immediately contact the shipper and find out the location of your package. What if it is too hot?
In warm weather times below 90 degrees, we ship with ice packs (as many as we feel is needed) and insulated cartons at no additional charge to you and have your package picked up at the beginning of the next week after the order is received, so to eliminate the possibility of a weekend transit layover and possible melted chocolates. The ice packs will not stay cold over the weekend in addition to regular transit times. An exception is when the weather is excessively hot (over 90 degrees). When this happens, we will contact you by phone and/or email to let you know that your order will be delayed because the trucks run at 100-120 degrees, even too hot for ice packs. We recommend that you still select regular ground shipping, not expedited.
How do you operate during the Holiday season?
THE HOLIDAY TIME IS DURING NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER: The shippers have notified us that all deliveries within these months may experience delays due to their increased volumes. After you receive your tracking number when your package is picked up, please check their website to see if your order will still reach you in the time they show scheduling it to be delivered.
Do you offer free shipping?
Yes, we offer free ground shipping for all orders over $70.
What is your return policy?
We may ask you to return the product if we need to place a claim at our expense. Call us to chat if you are unhappy with your chocolates for any reason. We are here to help!
